Parks, Greenways & the Riverfront Conservancy

RIVERFRONT CONSERVANCY

Connecting Detroit’s Neighborhoods to the Riverfront

Detroit’s growing network of parks and greenways is creating new ways to walk, bike and explore the city. Riverfront Condominiums is uniquely positioned along this network, with direct access to the Riverwalk and convenient connections to several major parks and trails.

DETROIT RIVERFRONT CONSERVANCY

The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is the nonprofit organization responsible for developing, maintaining and programming many of Detroit’s public riverfront spaces.

In addition to caring for the Riverwalk, the Conservancy hosts fitness classes, family activities, tours, festivals, live entertainment and seasonal events throughout the year.

SOUTHWEST GREENWAY

Opened in May 2023, the Southwest Greenway transformed the historic route of May Creek and a former railroad corridor into a landscaped pedestrian and bicycle pathway. The greenway extends approximately 0.6 miles from West Jefferson Avenue to Bagley Street, connecting the riverfront with Corktown, Mexicantown and the Michigan Central district.

For Riverfront Condominiums residents, the Southwest Greenway provides an easy connection from the Riverwalk and Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park to some of Detroit’s most exciting neighborhoods and destinations.

  • Approximately 0.6 miles long
  • Connects the riverfront with Corktown and Michigan Central
  • Designed for walking, running and biking
  • Features landscaping, seating, public art and play areas
  • Includes The Yard Graffiti Museum
  • Forms part of the planned 27.5-mile Joe Louis Greenway network
