The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is the nonprofit organization responsible for developing, maintaining and programming many of Detroit’s public riverfront spaces.
In addition to caring for the Riverwalk, the Conservancy hosts fitness classes, family activities, tours, festivals, live entertainment and seasonal events throughout the year.
Opened in October 2025, Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park transformed 22 acres of Detroit’s west riverfront into a destination for recreation, relaxation and year-round community programming.

Riverfront Connection: Located immediately next to Riverfront Condominiums, the park is directly accessible from the Riverwalk entrance behind the property.
Opened in May 2023, the Southwest Greenway transformed the historic route of May Creek and a former railroad corridor into a landscaped pedestrian and bicycle pathway. The greenway extends approximately 0.6 miles from West Jefferson Avenue to Bagley Street, connecting the riverfront with Corktown, Mexicantown and the Michigan Central district.
After dark, portions of the pathway are illuminated with colorful lights, creating a bright, immersive experience that has inspired the playful nickname “Detroit’s Rainbow Road.”
Riverfront Connection: Riverfront Condominiums residents can follow the Riverwalk toward Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park and access the Southwest Greenway from its West Jefferson Avenue entrance near 10th Street. From there, the pathway continues toward Corktown, Roosevelt Park and Michigan Central.
Named in honor of legendary Detroit boxer Joe Louis, the Joe Louis Greenway is a planned 27.5-mile recreational loop designed for walking, running and biking. Construction began in 2021, and the greenway is being completed in phases.
Once finished, the route will connect 23 Detroit neighborhoods with Dearborn, Hamtramck and Highland Park. It will combine newly constructed trails, protected bike lanes and established pathways, including the Detroit Riverwalk, Dequindre Cut and Southwest Greenway.
Approximately six miles of the greenway are currently open, with additional sections under construction.
Riverfront Connection: Riverfront Condominiums residents can access the developing greenway network directly from the Detroit Riverwalk behind the property. The nearby Southwest Greenway entrance at West Jefferson Avenue and 10th Street provides an additional connection from Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park toward Corktown and Michigan Central.
The Dequindre Cut is a nearly two-mile, below-street-level recreational pathway connecting the Detroit Riverfront with Eastern Market and the surrounding neighborhoods. Originally part of the Grand Trunk Railroad, the former rail corridor was transformed into a public greenway and opened in May 2009. An extension to Eastern Market opened in 2016.
The 20-foot-wide paved pathway includes designated lanes for pedestrians and bicyclists. The Dequindre Cut is especially known for its colorful murals, preserved graffiti and urban artwork displayed along the trail and beneath its overpasses.
Visitors can also enjoy outdoor fitness equipment, the Campbell Terrace performance area and the seasonal Dequindre Cut Freight Yard, which features food, drinks and entertainment.
Riverfront Connection: Riverfront Condominiums residents can access the Dequindre Cut by following the Detroit Riverwalk east to the Cut’s Atwater Street entrance. From there, the pathway continues north toward Lafayette Street, Gratiot Avenue and Eastern Market. The Dequindre Cut also forms an important part of the developing Joe Louis Greenway network.
