Trash Recycling Rules

Living in a condominium community offers numerous advantages along with shared responsibilities. To ensure our community remains clean, safe, and well-maintained for all residents, we ask everyone to adhere to the trash disposal guidelines and condominium recycling rules outlined below, including proper bulk item disposal.

Dumpsters are located at the northwest end of Tower 300, just past the loading dock. The dumpster marked with recycling logos is designated for recycling only, in accordance with condominium recycling rules. The other two dumpsters are for trash disposal, following the trash disposal guidelines outlined for residents. 

IMPORTANT: Detroit Disposal does not accept bulk item disposal of any kind. This includes furniture, mattresses, box springs, appliances, electronics, and similar large items. These bulk items must not be placed in or around the dumpsters. 

All bulk items must be arranged through the office for special pickup in advance, and please note that a fee will be charged to the co-owner’s account for this service.

The following items are considered bulk items for disposal and require special arrangements for removal according to the trash disposal guidelines:

- Furniture  

- Appliances  

- Mattresses and box springs  

Additionally, residents should follow the condominium recycling rules when disposing of these items. The freight elevator must be reserved when moving large bulk items out of the building. If assistance is needed, residents may contact the office to arrange for maintenance support; please note that labor charges will apply.

All residents are required to follow the trash disposal guidelines to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the trash chute and compactor system. Proper Use All regular trash and garbage must be securely placed in tightly tied plastic bags before being deposited into the trash chute. Prohibited Items The following items are strictly prohibited from being placed in the trash chute: bulk item disposal including cardboard or large boxes; glass or glass containers; packing materials of any kind; Styrofoam peanuts; open or loose food waste; and large items or anything that does not fit easily. A general rule to follow is: If it does not fit, do not force it into the chute. Residents should also be aware of the condominium recycling rules to minimize waste and promote sustainability.

The following items may be placed neatly in the trash room, in accordance with the condominium recycling rules, but must NOT be placed in the chute: 

- Small, properly contained recyclables (bottles, cans, newspapers, magazines, etc.) 

- Hangers, neatly bundled together 

- Small, broken-down boxes 

Please remember these trash disposal guidelines to facilitate proper bulk item disposal.

Residents have several options for recycling in accordance with the condominium recycling rules: Small recyclables such as glass and plastic bottles, cans, newspapers, magazines, and small broken-down boxes may be placed neatly in the trash room. All items must be properly contained and organized. For larger items, such as those requiring bulk item disposal, residents should take them to the outdoor recycling dumpster located near the trash dumpsters behind the building. Items must be placed inside the dumpster and not left outside of it. Additionally, for those who prefer further recycling services, materials can also be taken to Recycle Here, located at 1331 Holden Street, following the trash disposal guidelines.

Hazardous materials such as paint cans, gasoline, aerosol cans, and similar items must NOT be placed in the trash chute or dumpsters, in accordance with condominium recycling rules. These items require proper bulk item disposal and should be taken to an approved hazardous waste collection facility.
